DQ: Sensei's thoughts about having your manga printed in English? (Aka-sensei): Since [White Guardian and] Crimson Wind take place outside of Japan, I believe it's perfect for the characters to speak in English. I'm excited to have the English edition published. (Wata-sensei): I'm very happy that I could have more people exposed to my work. I hope you'll enjoy the view of our world! DQ: What inspires you to draw yaoi / boys' love? (Aka-sensei): Our wish is to create a wide range of works, including war tales, conspiracy plots, mysteries, and naturally romances as well. In such settings, the men are forced to establish a deep relationship. (Wata-sensei): Essentially, we like rivalries. Since we're also fond of stories other than romance, we aren't always inspired in that direction. DQ: Do you use live models? (Aka-sensei): There are no specific models for the characters in our manga. As we go through the fun process of brainstorming about dialogue, actions and other things we want in the story, we construct characters to fit those roles. (Wata-sensei): Since we brainstorm the models, they may already exist in our imaginations. DQ: Any other information or thoughts that you want to share with your fans? (Aka-sensei): Please enjoy the DUO BRAND. World! (Wata-sensei): We'll continue to draw many stories. Please give us your support! DQ: If you have one, can you share your favorite phrase or word with the fans? And why is that your favorite? (Aka-sensei): It's a proverb, "Live without regret."
