Are you putting together a drama show and want the best reviews for it? Some guidelines are simple, yet most people don’t use them which lead to getting poor reviews and less drama shows. Here are some tips and tricks to get the best drama show review.
A. Know Your Actors’ Capabilities.
Get a good idea of your cast and crew. Yes, you need good actors but you should know their capabilities as well. Not every actor can do comedy even if they’re good at romance and drama. Place your actors in parts that suit them. Don’t just put them in any part and hope it works out well.
B. Tech Crew should be Skilled.
You need a tech crew that is skilled in the following:
- Set building
- Special effects
Jobs you give to your tech crew should be best suited to their skills. After all, not everyone is good at everything.
C. Get a Sense of the Reviewers
Every reviewer sees things a bit differently. Know what they look for and have it in your play. For example, if a theater reviewer likes comedy, then you shouldn’t have drama. Likewise, if he likes drama, don’t put on a farce!
We’re not mind readers so you can’t always know what kind of reviewer will see your drama. Still, you can:
- Pay attention to places likely to be reviewed.
- Read their past reviews.
- Look for things they specifically called out.
Do these and you’ll know what to do and what to avoid.
It can be daunting the first time you put together a drama show, but don’t despair. Just do your research, get to know your cast and crew and you’ll do well. After all, no drama will be good without patience and hard work.
